In 1688, Thomas Wood left £50 for the poor of Woodhouse. This purchased 1½ acres which was then let out providing an income, in 1846, of £4.10s. There was a further £1 which was the interest on £20 which had been gained from the sale of timber. This whole sum was divided into amounts of 2s.6d. to be handed out to the poor of Woodhouse.
